Blijdorp is two things a new mother actually needs: the other mothers in her neighbourhood, and somewhere to keep what her child did today. MEET THE MOMS ON YOUR OWN STREETS Maternity leave can be the loneliest year of your life. You are never alone and never with anyone. The park is full of mothers doing exactly what you are doing, and none of you speak. Blijdorp shows you who is actually nearby. Open the map and there they are — mothers in your neighbourhood, with a child roughly the age of yours. • Post an open invite. "Going for a stroller walk at eleven, feel free to join." Anyone nearby can say yes. • Find a time that works. Everyone marks the mornings and afternoons they are free, and the app picks the slots that overlap. • Message directly. No requests to approve, no waiting to be accepted. • Move to WhatsApp whenever it stops being an app thing and starts being a friendship. Joining takes an invite code from someone already here, a phone number, and confirming you live in the neighbourhood. That is deliberately more than most apps ask, and it is why this one feels different. KIDS JOURNAL — TALK, DON'T WRITE You meant to keep a notebook. Everybody means to keep a notebook. Then the year happens, and the first steps and the first words and the way she says "again, again" are gone, or scattered across four thousand photos with nothing written on them. So talk instead. Hold the button, say what happened in ten seconds — one-handed, while she naps on you, in whatever language comes out — and it becomes a written page with the date already on it. • Voice or typing, whichever hand is free. • Add the photos that belong with the day, up to twelve, framed how you want them. • Every entry becomes a page in your child's album — the date, the story, the pictures, together. • More than one child? Keep a separate journal for each. AN ALBUM YOUR FAMILY CAN ACTUALLY SEE Photos on a phone are not memories, they are files. The album turns them back into a story. • Flip through the album like a book. • Share it with grandparents with one link. They open it in a browser — nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, and they can only read it. Turn the link off whenever you like. • Export the whole album as a print-ready PDF. Square pages, one memory each. The year on a shelf instead of on a phone. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your journal is yours. Nobody on the map can see it, and it is never public — a shared album is only ever seen by the people you send the link to. On the map, other mothers see an approximate area of your neighbourhood, never your address and never your live location. We do not ask for your child's full date of birth. Everything is stored in the EU. Blijdorp is built in Rotterdam, by a mother, for the year that is harder than anyone tells you.
