It also separates what is settled from what is not. That the planet is warming and that humans are the cause is settled, and the lesson on attribution shows how that was established rather than asserting it. Climate sensitivity, the social cost of carbon and the safety of nuclear power are genuinely contested, and those lessons give the range of positions and the evidence behind each.
