Store description excerpt

Your bill may be wrong. Make them prove it. Medical bills are hard to read, and that is not an accident. A charge billed twice. A visit coded higher than the visit you actually had. A "supplies — misc" line that names nothing. Most people pay anyway, because arguing means phone calls, hold music, and not knowing what to say. BillFighter reads every line of your bill and shows you what looks wrong and what is worth asking about, in plain English. Then it writes the letter. HOW IT WORKS 1. Point your camera at the bill. A photo or a PDF works — a medical bill, an explanation of benefits, a denial, or a collection notice. 2. We read it and point out what looks wrong, what is missing, and what is worth asking about. 3. You pick the letter. We write it from your bill. Print and mail it yourself, or have us send it by certified mail. SCAN FREE, BEFORE YOU MAKE AN ACCOUNT Three free scans a month. Read the findings first. Make an account only when you want to keep the case. No card to start. ONE PRICE PER BILL. NO SUBSCRIPTION. • Free Scan — the findings, the letter we would send first, and a sample letter to read. • Fight Kit, $39 once for that bill — your letters written from your bill, up to three, yours to print and mail from your phone. • In Your Corner, from $99 once for that bill — everything in the Fight Kit, plus up to two approved letters we mail by certified mail and track for you. You keep 100% of anything you win. We never take a percentage of it. WHAT THE LETTERS ASK FOR • An itemized bill — every charge, its code, and its date, in writing. • Financial assistance — nonprofit hospitals are required to have a program, and you apply for it in writing. • A correction, where a charge looks duplicated, coded too high, or unexplained. • Validation — but only when the letter is going to a debt collector rather than to the hospital. ABOUT THE LAW, PLAINLY The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act applies to third-party debt collectors. It does not apply to the hospital that treated you. After you receive the required validation notice from a collector, you generally have 30 days to dispute in writing, and a covered collector who receives your written dispute in time must pause collection of that amount until it mails you verification. A hospital has no legal deadline to answer your letter. That is why our letters set your own follow-up date, and why we remind you when it arrives. Where the No Surprises Act applies, protected out-of-network services are generally limited to your in-network cost sharing. WHAT WE ARE NOT BillFighter is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. You are the person writing to your provider or collector — the letter goes out over your name, and you decide what to send. Our analysis is automated. It can make mistakes. Read every finding before you send anything, and skip any question you are not sure about. There is an "I don't know" button for exactly that. Questions? There is an "Ask a real person" b
