Store description excerpt
BikeSpeed is a simple GPS speedometer made for cyclists. Unlike many other speedometer apps, BikeSpeed is completely free. No ads, and no subscription required. Mount your phone on the handlebar, tap Start, and start riding. WHILE YOU RIDE • Large, easy-to-read analog speedometer • Live trip stats: average speed, max speed, distance, duration, altitude, climb, descent and gradient • Direction of travel with a compass arrow and the name of the street you're on • Automatic pause • Your trip keeps recording even if the screen locks or you switch apps, so you can put the phone in your pocket along the way • GPS signal indicator. When the signal is too poor to trust, speed and distance freeze to avoid false readings • The screen stays awake while you ride TRIP LOG • Every finished ride is saved with date, distance, duration, average and max speed, and total climb and descent • Your route drawn on a map — tap the map to explore it full-screen with pan and zoom • Height profile and speed profile • Totals across all your rides and personal bests: longest ride, best average speed, top speed and biggest climb • Export a ride as a GPX file to Strava, Komoot or other apps ICLOUD SYNC Your trip log syncs automatically to your own private iCloud, so rides, routes and records follow you across your own iPhones. Not signed into iCloud? Then everything stays on the device. SETTINGS Set your own max speed on the gauge, switch between metric (km/h) and imperial (mph), turn automatic pause on or off, and choose Norwegian or English independently of your phone's language. PRIVACY You don't have to sign up anywhere, and there is no tracking. Your location is used only to show what you see on screen. Your trips stay on your phone and in your private iCloud account, readable only by you. The only thing that leaves your phone is an occasional lookup of which street you're on, handled by Apple's own mapping service — and a GPX export, which only happens when you ask for it. Requires iOS 18 or later. The app needs location services for speed, position and direction. Motion & Fitness access is optional and uses the barometer for more accurate measurement of climb and gradient; without it, climb is measured with GPS.
