Store description excerpt
Most trackers count minutes. But a minute of hard cycling and a minute of slow walking are not the same effort — and your body knows it. Bide METrics measures your week in MET-hours: your workouts weighted by how hard you moved, combined into one number. It's the metric the longevity research actually uses — built from your logged workouts, not your step count, so it stays comparable to that research instead of just counting movement. WHY MET-HOURS A MET is how much energy an activity burns relative to rest. MET-hours multiply that intensity by time, so an easy jog and a hard interval session each count for what they're worth. Physical-activity research consistently links higher weekly MET-hours with better long-term health — and the benefit keeps climbing well past the point a minutes-only goal plateaus. WHY ONLY WORKOUTS COUNT The research behind this app measured leisure-time exercise — deliberate workouts, not commuting, chores, or everyday steps. So Bide METrics only counts logged workouts too. It's a small trade-off (a walk you don't start as a workout won't count) for a number you can actually trust against the science, instead of an all-day activity score that looks impressive but means something different. WHAT YOU GET • A weekly ring showing your MET-hours against a personal target • A pacing cue — see at a glance whether you're on track for the week • Activity zones from "below minimum" to "high," grounded in the research • A breakdown of which workouts drove your total • History: weekly bars, a yearly-average trend, and how many weeks you hit target • This week / this month / this year / past years — switch with a tap • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for a glance without opening the app BUILT ON YOUR HEALTH DATA Bide METrics reads your recorded workouts and body weight from Apple Health and does the math the studies do: workout energy ÷ body weight, plus the resting metabolism burned during the workout. Nothing to log by hand — start a workout on your Apple Watch or iPhone like you normally would. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No servers. No analytics. No third-party SDKs. Bide METrics never makes a network request — your health data never leaves your iPhone, and if you delete the app, its data goes with it. Set your target, log your workouts, and watch the number that actually tracks with a longer, healthier life. — MET-hours follow the compendium definition of physical activity intensity, scoped to recorded workouts to match how the cited research measured activity. Targets and dose-response framing draw on peer-reviewed physical-activity and mortality research (Arem et al., 2015) and the 2024 Adult Compendium of Physical Activities. Bide METrics is a fitness tool, not a medical device, and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.
