BetterLocale Doc is a Mac tool for structured translation of documents, manuals, and websites. You work project-based, keep all languages in view, and update content precisely—without constantly switching tools or relying on copy and paste. The primary focus is on manual translation. Automatic translations are optional and intended for users who already have an account with an external service. ▶ Translate the way you prefer You decide how you want to work: 1. Manual translation with templates (default) BetterLocale Doc creates structured templates with contextual guidance for different use cases. The editing is done in external tools (e.g. ChatGPT) and then imported back into the app. This keeps all content well organized, even when using free or already existing tools. 2. Automatic translation via API (optional) Optionally, translations can be generated directly within the app. This requires an existing account with the respective external provider. BetterLocale Doc stores your API key securely in the macOS Keychain; billing is handled exclusively by the provider. Supported providers (optional, own account required): • OpenAI • Anthropic Claude • Google Gemini • Perplexity • xAI Grok • DeepL Using these services is completely optional. BetterLocale Doc itself does not provide API keys or access accounts. ▶ Typical workflow • Create a project and choose a base language • Write or import content • Create translations manually and import them, or optionally generate them automatically • Review, adjust, and finish BetterLocale Doc remains fully functional even without any external integrations. ▶ Privacy Only the data you explicitly select for translation is transmitted: • translation instructions (target language, formatting rules) • the selected text segments Unselected content or languages are not transmitted. ▶ Costs • Manual translation: no additional costs • Automatic translation: depends on the external provider and your account ▶ Support Questions or ideas?
