Store description excerpt

Beet reads the label so you do not have to squint at one in an aisle. Point your phone at a barcode. You get the Nutri-Score grade, the NOVA processing level, the additives explained in plain sentences, and better products in the same category. WE NEVER INVENT A SCORE Most scanners give you a number out of 100 and never show their working. Beet does not calculate anything of its own. Every assessment was published by someone else, and the name of the body that published it sits directly underneath: • Nutri-Score, from French public health research, the official front-of-pack label in seven European countries • NOVA, from the University of São Paulo, used in WHO and FAO reports • Additive evaluations from EFSA, ANSES and IARC • Declared allergens per the US FDA Where those bodies disagree about an ingredient, Beet says so and names who is disagreeing. You get the fact and the argument, not a verdict. SWAPS THAT TELL YOU WHY A better grade on its own is not a reason. When a product scores badly, Beet shows better ones in the same category with the difference spelled out: 18.7g less sugar · 487mg less sodium · no additives And they are products on US shelves, not imports you cannot buy. YOUR LIST Choose what you want kept out of your basket. All nine allergens a US label must declare, plus seed oils, palm oil, artificial colours, sweeteners, carrageenan, nitrites, MSG, high-fructose corn syrup, and vegetarian, vegan or pork-free. Every scan is checked against the printed ingredient list. Any suggested swap containing one of them is withheld before you ever see it. This is not an allergy test. Ingredient lists come from Open Food Facts and can be incomplete, and recipes change. Beet tells you when something is listed. It will never tell you a product is safe. Always check the packaging. NO ACCOUNT, EVER There is no sign-in, because there is nothing to sign in to. Your scan history and your avoid list live on your phone. Nothing about your shopping reaches a server, so there is no profile of you to build, sell or leak. FREE, AND WHAT IS NOT Free forever, with no trial and no countdown: unlimited scanning, Nutri-Score and NOVA with the body that published each, the additives explained, the full ingredient list, search by name or brand, and better products on the same shelf with the difference spelled out in grams. Beet Pro adds the two things Beet keeps for you. Your avoid list: twenty things checked against the printed ingredient list on every scan, with any suggested swap containing one of them withheld before you see it. And saved swaps: keep a better product from any scan and find it again in the aisle. $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year. The free tier does not expire, so nothing can charge you for forgetting to cancel. Beet is not a medical device. It reports what a label lists and what public bodies have published about those ingredients. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it gives no dietary advice
