Store description excerpt

Bedside is a personal focus tool for the hours before sleep. You choose which apps keep you up at night (TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, dating apps — your call) and when your sleep window is. Bedside blocks them during that window, and makes unlocking a little inconvenient on purpose. This is for you, not for watching anyone else. Blocking is done by a system-level service on your device — it never reads screen content and collects no data. One-time purchase, never a subscription. Bedside is free to use with ads; a single purchase removes them for good and unlocks multiple block windows, multiple break rules and the guardian password. No monthly fee, no yearly renewal, no account to create. Why bother: · Willpower and "I'll put it down in 5 minutes" don't work · Built-in app timers are too easy to dismiss · A tiny friction step — a forced pause of a few seconds before you can continue — is often enough to put the phone down What it does: 1. Block windows — set nightly schedules (e.g. 22:00 – 07:00); crosses midnight; multiple windows allowed. 2. Calm-down countdown — when you open a blocked app, the block screen makes you wait a few seconds first. Really need it? Continue for a few minutes, then blocking resumes automatically. 3. Always a way out — need more time? Watch a short ad to unlock a few extra minutes (the full version is a one-time purchase that removes ads). Real emergencies are never locked out. 4. Beyond bedtime — set continuous-use breaks for daytime scrolling, and get a morning review of how last night went (a clean night gets a little celebration). 5. Your data stays on your device — no account, no servers of ours. Which apps you block, and when, is stored only on this phone. The free version includes the Google AdMob SDK to show ads, the one part of the app that uses the network; the one-time purchase removes ads and loads no third-party SDKs. Bedside is not an ad blocker, not an enterprise management tool, not for managing someone else's device — only yours. Bedside uses Android's AccessibilityService API to make blocking work: it detects which app is currently open, checks whether it falls inside your sleep window or has exceeded your continuous-use limit, and if so covers it with a block screen. This permission is required for the core blocking feature. Bedside never collects, stores, or uploads any screen content or personal information through this service. All rules stay on this device. People usually install Bedside to stop doomscrolling in bed, to curb a phone addiction that is costing them sleep, to block TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or Reddit at night, to hold a steady bedtime routine, or because the built-in screen time limit stopped working for them.
