Store description excerpt

Photograph your weld bead. Find out how it would score. Bead Score is a practice tool for welders — trade school students, apprentices, and anyone grinding toward a certification test. Lay a bead, put a coin beside it for scale, take one photo. In seconds you get a scored inspection card: defects circled directly on your weld, a score out of 100, and exactly one thing to change on the next pass. HOW IT WORKS 1. Frame your bead with the on-screen guides and a coin for scale (US quarter, UK 10p, €1, and others - set yours in Settings). 2. The app blocks the shutter if there's glare, blur, or bad light — and tells you exactly how to fix it, so you don't waste a scan. 3. Watch the analysis run: scale reference, bead toes, reinforcement height, undercut, ripple consistency. 4. Get your card. WHAT YOU GET ON THE CARD • Your photo with each defect circled and labeled • A score out of 100 with a band: NEEDS WORK, ACCEPTABLE, or STRONG • Every finding with its location, severity, and how confident we are • A plain-language diagnosis: what your bead is telling us about your travel speed, arc length, and angle • One fix for the next bead. Not a list. One thing. • A share card sized for Stories and TikTok THE WELD LOG The scoring gets you in. The log is what keeps you improving. • Every bead saved with its photo, score, and machine settings • Amperage, voltage, wire feed, gas flow, stickout, rod and diameter, polarity, thickness, joint, position, travel direction • Search and filter — "my best 7018 flat beads," "everything above 80" • Score trend over time, by process and position • My Best Settings: the parameter combinations that historically score highest for you • First bead vs. latest, side by side • Practice streak and a countdown to your test date • Rod inventory and consumable cost tracking Built offline-first — shop floors have terrible signal, so everything saves instantly and syncs later. WHAT WE SUPPORT RIGHT NOW Stick (SMAW), flux-core (FCAW), MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW), on plate, flat and horizontal (1F/1G, 2F/2G). Common consumables: 6010, 6011, 6013, 7018, 7024, E71T-11, ER70S-6, ER308L, ER4043. Pipe and out-of-position work (3G/4G, 5G/6G) are on the waitlist inside the app. We'd rather support a narrow set properly than guess at everything. BEING STRAIGHT WITH YOU Bead Score scores against D1.1-style visual acceptance criteria for practice purposes. It is not an inspection, and it is not a substitute for a Certified Welding Inspector. A photo shows the surface. It cannot show fusion, penetration, internal porosity, slag, or root defects — and those are what fail under load. Internal defects require RT/UT and a qualified inspector. We will not tell you whether a weld is safe to use on a hitch, a lift, a rack, or anything holding weight. Ask a CWI. If the light is bad or the scale reference is missing, we say "can't assess reliably" in
