Photograph a supermarket receipt. Bagged reads every line and tells you what share of your food spend was ultra-processed, and which items it was. Most people guess low. It is rarely the crisps. YOUR FIRST SHOP IS FREE Photograph one receipt and see the share of that shop's food spend that was ultra-processed. No card, and nothing to cancel. WHAT THE SUBSCRIPTION ADDS Every receipt after the first. Every line of each one, read and priced: the product name as printed, the quantity, and what it actually cost after any multibuy. Which items were ultra-processed and where the money went. Your past shops, kept and compared. And the same basket priced again, which is the products that appear on two of your receipts and what each cost both times. HOW IT CLASSIFIES Items are classified using NOVA, a food classification system developed at the University of Sao Paulo and used in public health research worldwide. It has four groups, from unprocessed foods to ultra-processed ones. NOVA describes how a food was made. It is not a measure of how healthy it is, and Bagged does not score you, grade you, or set you a target. It tells you what is in your basket and leaves the conclusions to you. Classification works from the product names printed on the receipt, which do not list ingredients, so some items are a judgement call. The app says so on every result. WHAT IT DOES WITH YOUR DATA Receipt photographs are deleted after twelve months, automatically. Your line items stay for as long as your account does. You can export everything you hold or delete your account, including every photograph, from inside the app. Your shopping data is never sold and never shared for advertising.
