BackSCNR (Back Scanner) is a scoliosis screening and monitoring support tool designed to aid in the management of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS). Using advanced Surface Topography (ST), the app provides a radiation-free and non-invasive way to assess the 3D shape of the human torso, offering a safe alternative for frequent monitoring without exposure to harmful X-rays. Developed through years of leading academic research, BackSCNR is registered with Health Canada as a Class I Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). It is intended for use in individuals aged 10–18 years to assist clinicians in quantifying torso asymmetries and estimating curve angles associated with AIS. Key Features: - Flexible 3D Torso Capture: Capture high-accuracy 3D scans using either the Structure Sensor accessory or your iPhone’s built-in TrueDepth camera. - Asymmetry Analysis: Aids in identifying and tracking torso asymmetries over time. - Clinical Support: Provides detailed metrics, including estimated Cobb angles and deviation color maps, to support clinical decision-making. - Rapid Results: Upload and process models to receive analysis within minutes on our secure web platform. How it Works: 1. Select Your Hardware: The app automatically detects if a Structure Sensor is connected and will default to it for scanning. If no sensor is detected, the app defaults to the iPhone’s TrueDepth camera. 2. Capture the Scan: Follow the in-app guidance to take a 3D scan of the patient's torso. 3. Analyze & Report: Upload the data to the secure BackSCNR website for automated analysis and reporting.
