Store description excerpt
Some pages are made for reading, not for repeatedly hammering the trackpad. Long-form articles, recipes you cook one-handed, documentation you scan over morning coffee, RSS-style feeds you skim end-to-end — all of it works better when the page just keeps moving on its own. Auto Scroll is a tiny Safari extension for macOS that does exactly that. Click the toolbar icon, drag the speed slider to the pace you want, hit Start, and the page glides downward at a steady, pixel-precise rate. Touch the wheel, press Esc, or click the toolbar button again to stop instantly. SMOOTH AUTO-SCROLL • Pixel-precise, requestAnimationFrame-driven downward scrolling • Constant velocity at the speed you pick — no jitter, no jumps • Calm and continuous, easy on the eyes during long reading sessions SPEED SLIDER, 1 TO 10 Drag from a gentle drift to a fast scan. The slider value sticks per device, so the next page starts at the speed you already like. ONE-CLICK START / INSTANT STOP The popup is a single screen: a status line, a slider, and one big button. Press Start and the active tab begins scrolling immediately — no reload, no warm-up. To stop: press Stop, scroll the wheel, swipe with two fingers, tap Esc, or click the toolbar icon again. Any of these halt scrolling at once. WORKS EVERYWHERE Articles, blogs, search results, documentation, Wikipedia rabbit holes, PDFs viewed in Safari — any page Safari can open is fair game. Auto Scroll adapts to long-form sites and news feeds alike. KEYBOARD SHORTCUT Default ⌃F opens the popup from anywhere in Safari. Rebindable from Safari Settings → Extensions if you want a different chord. PRIVACY-FIRST BY DEFAULT • No accounts, no sign-up, no email • No analytics SDK, no crash SDK, no ad SDK, no third-party SDKs at all • No third-party network calls of any kind from the App or Extension • Your last-used speed is stored in Safari's per-extension local storage on this Mac — nothing else is recorded • The extension only runs on the active tab, only while you're scrolling WHY A HOST APP, TOO? On macOS, every Safari Web Extension ships inside a regular app. The Auto Scroll app you see in /Applications is a small companion that walks you through enabling the extension in Safari and serves as the App Store container. Day to day, you'll only ever interact with the popup in Safari's toolbar. ONE PRICE, NO SURPRISES Auto Scroll is a one-time $1.99 purchase on the Mac App Store. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads, no upsells, no nags. PERFECT FOR • Long-form readers — Substack, Medium, longform journalism • Cooks following recipes hands-free • Researchers skimming docs and papers • Anyone reading on a stand and don't want to keep reaching for the trackpad • Accessibility — reduced manual scrolling for repetitive-strain comfort Safari and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Auto Scroll is independently developed and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple.
