Store description excerpt

A work stops you. Two weeks later you no longer know its title, its painter, or even which room you saw it in. That is what Artex is for. KEEP WHAT YOU SAW Every work that stays with you joins your library: its photo, its title, its artist, the museum, the date, and whatever note you want to leave on it. Everything files itself by the day you visited. Six months later, "that blue painting in Amsterdam" comes back from three words in the search field. ONE PHOTO FILLS IT ALL IN Photograph the small plate beside the work — or the whole wall, painting included. Artex reads the title, the artist, the date, the medium, the dimensions and the museum off it, and fills the entry in for you. You type nothing, and everything stays editable: nothing is decided for you. LEARN MORE THAN THE WALL WILL TELL YOU A museum label runs to four lines. If you want it to, Artex goes looking for the rest: the movement, the artist's biography, the historical context of the work, and a high-resolution reproduction — from Wikidata, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Nothing is added when the match isn't certain: an empty field beats a wrong attribution. LISTEN, INSTEAD OF READING A "Listen" button reads the entry aloud. For small type, for dark rooms, or simply to look at the work rather than your phone. YOUR MUSEUMS ON A MAP The visit journal gathers every museum you walked through, what you kept from each, and places them on a map. A year of visits fits on one screen. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE It all happens on your device, the reading of your photos included. No image is sent anywhere. No account, no server, no advertising, no tracker. In a room with no signal, everything works exactly the same. FREE, UNCAPPED, AND THAT WON'T CHANGE Unlimited library, automatic filling, enrichment, spoken reading, PDF export, search, favourites, tags: free for everyone, with no counter and no advertising. The one-time "Support" purchase opens the visit journal and its map, your own colour-coded tags, and three themes. None of them is needed to keep a work or to learn more about it, and that is deliberate. Artex only asks for location and photo access if you turn the map on. You can refuse: everything keeps working, your works simply won't have a pin. Text from Wikipedia is licensed CC BY-SA and credited in the app. Artex is not affiliated with any museum.
