Store description excerpt

Arooz tells you the meter of your Urdu poetry — instantly, entirely on your device. Type or paste a ghazal and Arooz scans it line by line: it names the bahr, shows the feet (arkaan), writes out the taqti of every word, and flags exactly which word breaks the meter. What took a session with an ustaad now happens as you type. THE SCANNER • Names the bahr of your poem — with the classical name (بحر ہزج مثمن سالم) and its arkaan • Per-line verdict: in meter or out, with the breaking words highlighted • Taqti (تقطیع) of every word in 1/2 weight digits, plus a suggested correction pattern (اصلاح) for off-meter lines • Fluency (روانی) score for every line • Aeraab helpers — add zer, zabar, pesh, tashdeed, jazm or izafat with one tap and see how they change the weight • Type in Roman and it becomes Urdu as you write — no Urdu keyboard needed THE QAFIYA FINDER Stuck on a rhyme? Enter any word and get qafiya lists grouped by ending sound, drawn from a 44,000-word dictionary. THE GHAZAL LIBRARY Read 1,277 ghazals — Ghalib, Mir, Iqbal, Dagh, Zafar and more — each one scanned. Open any ghazal to see its bahr and study how the masters kept the meter. LEARN AROOZ A built-in course on the science of meter: what a bahr is, arkaan, qafiya and radif, matla and maqta, the structure of the ghazal and azad nazm — written for poets, not linguists. MADE FOR URDU Beautiful Nastaliq typography, full right-to-left layout, and a light and dark theme designed like a manuscript. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Scanning runs offline on your device. Your poetry never leaves it. No ads, no tracking, no analytics. Try the scanner on two poems without an account; a free email account then keeps it unlimited. Reading the ghazals, finding rhymes and the lessons never need an account. The engine implements the classical rules of taqti with a 44,000-word dictionary, refined against a corpus of classical ghazals. If you write shayari — or want to start writing it in meter — Arooz is the ustaad in your pocket.
