Store description excerpt
Most dating apps are built for messaging. Aroha is built for meeting. Post a real plan — coffee on Thursday morning, drinks after work, a walk on Sunday — and let people say hi to the plan, not just the profile. When you both want the same date, you're already halfway there. START WITH THE DATE Browse plans near you: what it is, where, and when. Say hi to the ones you'd actually turn up for. No opening lines to agonise over, no "we should hang out sometime" that never happens. Or browse people the usual way — every profile is a person you could meet this week, not a pen pal. FEWER CHATS, MORE DATES Aroha caps how many conversations you can keep open at once. It sounds strange for a dating app, and it's the point: a handful of real conversations beats forty you'll never answer. When you're at your limit, you close one to open another — so the people you're talking to actually hear back. DATE MODE: SAFETY THAT TRAVELS WITH YOU Before you head out, turn on date mode. Aroha holds who you're meeting, where you're going, and when — and checks in on you during the date. - Check-ins on your schedule. Answer "still out" and it waits; miss one and your safety circle hears about it. - One-tap SOS. Your circle gets a text with your last known location and a link to a page showing where you were. - Your circle, their consent. You invite people with your own QR code or link — they read how it works and opt in themselves. Aroha never texts a number you typed for someone else. - Nothing is shared while you're simply out. Arming date mode is private; only SOS or a missed check-in reaches anyone. Aroha is not an emergency service and can't contact emergency services for you. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number first. SEE WHO YOU WANT TO SEE Filter by distance, age, height, interests, languages, education, and more — then choose what shows on other people's cards. If the results run thin, Aroha tells you exactly which filter is doing it and how many people it's hiding, so you can loosen the one that matters instead of guessing. WHY "AROHA" Aroha is a Māori word for love, care, and respect. It's the standard we're trying to build to — for how the app treats you, and how people treat each other on it.
