Most practice journals can only ever agree with you. Aperture is built so it can tell you nothing happened. It hides the target, seals what you recorded before you can revise it, and scores your impressions against what was actually in the photo. You don't have to wonder whether you're improving. A SESSION, STAGE BY STAGE - Cool-down: a short breathing pacer to quiet the analytic mind - Ideogram: a fast reflexive mark, then tag the basic gestalt - Sensory: colors, textures, temperatures, sounds, forms - Sketch: the spatial layout, on a full canvas - Assemble: your final impressions, before you commit - Reveal: only now does the target appear, and the scoring begin Until you commit, the target is never shown, hinted at, or inferable. You work from a meaningless reference number. YOUR GUT, KEPT SEPARATE FROM YOUR GUESSES Raw sensory impressions stay visually separate from flagged guesses (AOL: the mind's premature conclusions). Flagging a guess never costs you points. That separation is the habit the whole method is built on. SCORING YOU CANNOT FUDGE Your score is how much of what you sensed matches what was really there, judged against a fixed vocabulary set in advance rather than your memory of what you meant. It rewards accurate sensory data, not lucky label-guessing, and shows you which impressions matched and which missed. Log enough sessions and it will tell you plainly whether you are beating chance. A REFEREE, NOT AN ORACLE (SUPPORTED IPHONES) An optional AI judge reads the session you already sealed and scores it against the target. It can lower a generous score but never inflate one, and it never tells you what you will perceive next time. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR IPHONE No account, no analytics, no server of ours.
