Aloud has you saying sentences from your own life, out loud, until they come without thinking. Three steps, done daily. CAPTURE — Narrate your day and it becomes your study material. Aloud transcribes it, splits it into individual sentences, translates them the way a native speaker would actually say them, and groups them into topics. Not a textbook's idea of your life. Yours. LISTEN — Every sentence gets real neural speech, cached on your device. Play the queue while you commute, cook, or work out, and repeat out loud over the top of it. Works in the background and on the lock screen. Three modes: your language then theirs, target only on loop, or gapped — a prompt, silence to answer into, then the correction. RECALL — A sentence appears in your language. You say it in the target language from memory, then check. Missed sentences come back before the session ends. This part is uncomfortable and it is the part that works. One bank, every language. Sentences are stored independently of any language, so adding a second or third never means capturing your life again. Pin a sentence to one language when it only belongs there. Study a video before you watch it. Paste a transcript and Aloud pulls out the vocabulary that unlocks it. Learn that first and native content becomes recognition instead of noise, months earlier than it otherwise would. No streaks, no points, no owl. The only number Aloud treats as meaningful is how many times you have said a sentence out loud. REQUIRES YOUR OWN API KEYS Aloud has no subscription, no account, and no servers. You supply your own keys for translation (Anthropic) and speech (Google Cloud), plus optionally transcription (OpenAI). Your sentences never leave your device except as requests to those providers, and you pay them directly at cost — typically pennies for a personal collection. Setup takes about ten minutes; there is a full walkthrough on the support page. This is a tool for people willing to do the work. If you want effortless, this is not it.
