Store description excerpt

A murder in the castle. In front of you is the floor plan, and beside it the suspects' cards. Not one of them says who did it. Each says something about where someone stood. "She was next to the fireplace." "He was in the Armoury." "She was south of Editha." That is all you get. How a case works You place every suspect on a square of the floor plan. Two rules always hold: nobody shares a row or a column with anyone else, and nobody stands on a square taken by a cupboard or a barrel. Everything else is on the cards. At the start almost anyone fits almost anywhere. Every card narrows it. In the end exactly one arrangement is left, and in one room a suspect stands alone with the victim. That is your culprit. There is never any guessing. Every case can be worked out step by step, and for every step there is a card you can point at. If you are stuck, you are missing a deduction, not a lucky break. What is in it Case File I is set in the castle and holds 80 cases. It is complete and free. It starts on six by six squares with five suspects and ends on ten by ten with nine. Cases open one after another. Case File II is set in the Wild West, Case File III aboard a pirate ship. Eight bonus cases from both worlds are there to play first. Along with that, a pencil for your own notes, crosses that follow along as you place a suspect, and hints for the cases that stall. What it costs The app is free and shows adverts. There is a banner under the board. If you want to, you can watch a video to top up hints or to bring back the helpers in the harder grades. Neither comes at you on its own. One single purchase unlocks Case File II, Case File III, the bonus cases and the helpers for good. No subscription, no coins, no energy that refills overnight. Everything stays on the device. No account, no sign-in, no connection needed. Purchased content sits in the app and works offline. The app speaks English, German, Spanish and French.
