Store description excerpt

An app that measures your attention without overstating the result. Not one that hands out points, badges and confetti — a properly kept measurement notebook. AdultFocus brings well-known tasks from cognitive psychology to your phone: Stop Signal, Go/No-Go, Stroop, N-Back, Tower Task, Trail Making, Visual Search... 21 tasks in total. Most take five to ten minutes. When you finish you see your reaction time, accuracy and task-specific measures for that session; when you run it again next week, the chart speaks only to your own earlier sessions. That "only your own history" part matters. The app will not tell you that you are "below normal" or "doing great", because it cannot: a measurement taken on a phone is affected by everything from the time of day to how badly you slept. So we do not count small fluctuations as change, we mark sessions that could not be computed reliably as hollow points on the chart, and we say so plainly when your accuracy was low. No result is ever compared against a norm group or a threshold. Measurement and practice are also kept apart: sessions where you were just practising never enter the trend chart. There is also an ADHD symptom questionnaire — adult symptoms, childhood history, functioning. It is a self-report question set; it is not a verbatim copy of any established scale, its result is not a diagnosis or a suggestion of one, and the app says so plainly on the relevant screens. For a hard day there is a quiet corner too: a breathing exercise, a focus meditation, and a focus environment with pink, white or brown noise. As for your data: the app never connects to the internet. No account, no server, no analytics. Everything stays on your phone, and you can delete all of it from Settings whenever you like. This app is intended for ages 13 and over. For younger users we have a separate app: KidFocus. One last piece of honesty. This app is not a medical device; it does not diagnose, it does not treat, and it is not a substitute for medical assessment. Cognitive training has not been shown to improve everyday-life symptoms; people improve most on tasks similar to the ones they practise. Use this as a tool that measures something you are curious about, not as a treatment. If your symptoms affect your daily life, please talk to a health professional.
