Valuing and connecting with our taonga provides many benefits and is a vital foundation for a vibrant, dynamic and sustainable 21st century city. We have always shown pride in our heritage, and have a long history of striving to protect it. The loss of our heritage buildings and places as a result of the Canterbury earthquakes changed Christchurch forever. The sense of loss has created a desire to remember and to capture our memories and stories of this place.
