KNOW BEFORE YOU GO OUT Cold Forest Cards is a local library of short educational cards covering the basics of preparing for winter walks, camps, and hikes. Read through categories at your own pace, mark what you have learned, save favorites, add personal notes, and test yourself with quick quizzes. Everything works offline, on your device, with no account needed. EIGHT CATEGORIES Cards are organized into practical topics: clothing and layering, basic gear, staying warm, water and food, setting up a rest spot, pre-departure preparation, signs that conditions are worsening, and deciding when to end the activity. Each category shows your reading progress so you can see what is left to cover. CARD STRUCTURE Every card has a summary, a main explanation, a list of key points, and a caution block. Caution blocks do not offer diagnoses or guarantees — they recommend stopping the activity and seeking professional help when in doubt. The content is written for beginners preparing for casual winter outings, not for extreme or professional expeditions. PERSONAL PROGRESS Mark any card as learned to track what you have covered. Add it to favorites for quick access later. Write a personal note on any card to record your own observations or reminders. Filter cards within a category by status — all, new, learned, or favorites. QUIZZES Run a five-question quiz on any category to check your recall. Each question offers three or four answer options with an explanation shown after your answer. The result screen shows your score and highlights topics worth reviewing. Quiz history is saved locally. SEARCH Find any card by keyword across all categories. Results update as you type. If nothing matches, a clear empty state tells you so. LEARNING PROGRESS The progress screen shows how many cards you have viewed and marked as learned, both overall and per category. No badges, no streaks, no gamification — just a clear count of where you stand. NOT A PROFESSIONAL COURSE This app provides general educational content for casual winter preparation.
